Letting your kids read whatever they want

As a sixth grader I pretty much exclusively read Stephen King (which I was way too young for) and Babysitters Club (which I had way outgrown). I grew up to become a book critic and along the way I learned a lot about how to regulate my intellect and emotions, how to make good decisions about what was in my best interest, and how to not be a raging snob.
